Luxstowe House

History

about-1 The cottage began its life as the cooking school building at Frensham girls’ school, in nearby Mittagong. In 1992 the cottage was moved to Luxstowe property to house Mick’s parents. Its story and furnishing have since grown and changed from the school’s mixing bowls, aprons and utensils to memorable family roast dinners, important dates celebrations and numerous interesting people staying.

Setting

Tucked away, down a long driveway lined by apple trees, Luxstowe House is nestled between Catavento Sculpture Studio and the paddocks, quietly inviting us to slow down, breathe and unwind away from routine and commitments.

Surrounded by established trees, shrubs and sculptures in the vast gardens of Treekeepers Container Nursery, and holding beautiful antiques and original artworks, Luxstowe House bridges qualities of the past and the present in a rural setting, yet only five minutes away from the pulse of things.

Location

Luxstowe House is five-minutes drive from Bowral and Moss Vale, where you’ll find a variety of places to eat and shop. If you enjoy walking or cycling, an entrance to the Bong Bong Track, which follows the Wingecarribee River, is close by. Not far from several townships, waterfalls, bushwalks, golf courses and wineries, there are plenty of things to do and places to visit.

Appeal

The property’s rural setting is perfect for relaxing, reading and artistic pursuits. It appeals to solo travellers, couples and families of all ages and walks of life. (Please note that there are ponds on the property and dams in the adjoining paddocks, so be vigilant with young children.)

Antiques, sculptures and books give Luxstowe House a timeless and rich quality and character. Its high ceilings create a sense of generosity, enhanced by the large windows that frame the serene landscape.

On a beautiful day, a picnic in the garden is a lovely way to enjoy Luxstowe’s tranquil and atmospheric setting.
